That Goldman attack ad that Jones is running is a work of art, imo. Brutalist, even, in its efficiency. The most malleable constituency in Goldman's camp right now is the MSNBC-addled liberal who knows him as an anti-Trump talking head. Link Goldman to the specter of Fox News? Check. Make the spot fifteen seconds so you can run it twice in a single commercial break and really pound that point in? Check. All he needs to do is buy up every commercial slot on Rachel Maddow, and then *maybe* he can make a dent in Goldman's numbers.

What a great column - one of the most comprehensive pieces on this race I've read. I slightly disagree that Goldman is center-left. I would go as far to say he is center-right. His answers during the NY1 debate made my hair stand on end. This guy has no idea what it is like to live and work in district 10.

One more thing - a lot of Goldman's potential voters are not going to bother casting a ballot. They will either assume he has it in the bag or they will join the vast majority of NYC who just can't manage to spend two minutes looking up their polling place. It will be close but there is a good chance that the Times gets rebuked here for their strangely passive aggressive endorsement.
